REMARKS FROM CORPS OF ENGINEERS EVALUATION

Howard W. Pence, Inc. strived to construct the Maintenance Hangar with the best of the materials and equipment specified for the project. In several instances, such as the frequency converters and roofing materials, the Contractor made the effort to satisfy the Corps of Engineers and the end users by asking specifically the type of products that were preferred. These items were provided and not only met or exceeded specifications but gave the users and Corps of Engineers a sense of satisfaction and confidence.

Pence was also very helpful in resolving complicated issues that occurred during construction. For example, the structural steel for the Hangar bay was found to have several design errors that required quick and accurate coordination for minimum contract delay impact. Pence worked very hard at partnering and coordinating with the Corp of Engineers, Designers, and several tiers of Subcontractors to resolve the problems in a timely manner. Therefore outstanding ratings were assigned to categories 16a, a6g, and 16h.
